Maine Driving Dynamics

Maine Driving Dynamics is a Bureau of Highway Safety course aimed at improving a student's defensive driving awareness and abilities. The five-hour course includes discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that challenge drivers on Maine's highways. The course format engages participants with lectures, videos, and class discussion/participation. Upon completion, students receive a three-point credit on their driving record. Some insurance companies give discounts after completing this course. Check with your company for details. Students should bring their driver's license to class. Registration: $50.00 under age 65; $35 age 65 and older. Seniors should call our office to register to receive the discounted price. 422-4794.

Restorative Yoga 5/20

Prepare yourself for deep relaxation. Restorative Yoga works to heal your body emotionally and physically. In Restorative Yoga "support = release" of muscle tension & mental stress, giving your body the opportunity to restore and refresh. Class is about slowly breathing into reclining yoga postures supported by bolsters, blocks, blankets and pillows. Your instructor will provide you with most of the props and guide you into setting up for each posture, assisting as needed to get that "ahhhhhhhh" comfort & relaxation. Participants will need to wear comfortable clothing; bring 2 throw pillows & a throw/blanket; eye pillows are available and may be purchased for $5. Relax...refresh...restore.

Tai Chi for Arthritis Session 2

Tai chi is an art embracing mind, body and spirit. It's origins from ancient China makes it the most enduring of exercises which is easily learned through repetition of the basic forms.  Helpful to your body's balance practice of Tai Chi can also be done from a chair. With the method taught in Tai Chi for Arthritis, participants quickly see the health benefits through their own practice. Wear loose fitting clothes and comfortable footwear to class.

Christine Ryan, is certified teacher of "Tai Chi for Arthritis". She has found numerous benefits in her own practice and committed to learning how to instruct this method through the Tai Chi for Health Institute founded by Dr Lam, a physician and master teacher of Tai Chi from Australia. You can see Dr Lam online and his approach to Tai Chi through the institute's site.

 

Utah Non-Resident Concealed Carry

When combined with your Maine concealed firearms permit, 34 states recognize your right to conceal carry. This class gives you the required knowledge to apply for a Utah permit (additional cost). You must be 18 to take this class. The application, signed by the instructor, is proof of successful completion required by Utah. In order to receive the permit from Utah the student must also be able to pass a federal background check. There are no firearms allowed in the classroom. Prerequisites are a Maine Resident Permit to Carry a Concealed Firearm and a Maine Drivers License or other Maine State ID proving residence. If the student is from out of state then their concealed permit must be from that state.
