Restorative Yoga (Session 3)

Ready for deep relaxation? Restorative Yoga works to heal your body emotionally and physically. In Restorative Yoga "support = release" of muscle tension & mental stress, giving your body the opportunity to restore and refresh. Slowly breathe into reclining yoga postures supported by bolsters, blocks, blankets and pillows (most provided) while your instructor guides you into setting up for each posture, assisting as needed to get that "ahhhhhhhh" comfort & relaxation. Participants should wear comfortable clothing; bring 2 throw pillows & a throw/blanket; eye pillows are available and may be purchased for $5.

Let's Get Fit and Stay Fit (Session 2)

This low-impact workout allows you to work at your own pace and level. It is 50-60 minutes of simple moving, with options to add some light weights (or not), use stretch tubing for resistance training and incorporate an abdominal workout and flexibility stretches. Anyone can do this. Class meets two times a week and includes holidays and school vacations. All levels welcome.

*Please bring a floor mat and 1-5 lb. weights. Drop-ins welcome @ $5/class.

Cooking Matters


with Healthy Acadia

Learn how to cook healthy food on a budget! This no-cost, 6 session cooking class is offered in partnership with Healthy Acadia. The series offers participants an opportunity to learn about easy ways to prepare healthy, family-friendly, delicious meals and stretch food dollars. Participants work together to create a meal each week and sample their recipe. Free take-home ingredients will be provided for all participants. This series is designed to engage community members who are experiencing low income, and who want to gain knowledge and skills to eat health food on a limited budget. Participants are requested to commit to all six classes in the series.

Guitar - Beginners

Learn the basic elements of the six-string guitar and be introduced to chords, various strumming styles and the keys to playing along with your favorite music. Kevin uses quick learning tips to have fun learning how to tune the strings and play basic chords from different musical genres. The class is for beginners, children and adult guitar enthusiasts. Students must bring a six-string guitar to the class.

Guitar - Advanced Beginners

We will continue to build on the concepts of chord structures for songs from many different styles of music. The class will also introduce students to the basics of melody and solo line playing over the music on any chosen song. This class is for those who have previously taken a beginner guitar class from Mr. Campbell or any other guitar teacher.

If you are unsure, please contact us, and we will help to appropriately place you in the best class for your level. Students should bring their own guitar to class.

The Maine Death with Dignity Act: Sorting Fact from Fiction

Valerie will discuss the Maine Death with Dignity Act to clarify the new law and who may qualify for aid-in-dying medication. She will be discussing the legal and medical requirements as it works in Maine.  Valerie will also clear up common misconceptions regarding death with dignity laws in the United States, and she will be happy to answer questions related to Maine's Death with Dignity Act.  

This presentation is in collaboration with Sulivan's Age Friendly group which meets once a month at 10am.

Mix It Up Fitness (Session 2)

Calendar Mar 4, 2020 at 2 pm, runs for 7 weeks

If you get bored with the same workout routine over and over, then mix it up with Donna. She’ll get you warmed up and then do a different variety of cardio, strength training, and flexibility exercises with a focus on a different part of the part of the body each week. You may do kick boxing exercises one week, work with a stability ball the next, plus use resistance bands and weights. The only thing consistent about this class is the schedule and your desire to exercise.

*Bring light weights if you have them and a mat. Drop-ins welcome @ $7/class.

Drumming & Percussion

Master drummer/multi-instrumentalist Kevin Campbell will teach traditional West African and South American rhythms on a wide variety of drums and percussion instruments, ie. djembe, dunun, gourd shakers and balafon. In addition, he will combine specific hand drumming techniques with accompanying songs and percussion complements. All instruments provided and participants are encouraged to bring their own. All levels of experience and non-experience are welcome.
