Reiki is a Japanese Vibrational Energy Healing Method bringing physical, mental and emotional, and spiritual harmony by balancing Chi. Gendai Reiki Ho is a school of Reiki rarely taught outside of Japan. Through the Empowerment given by a Shihan (GRH Master Teacher), practicing Reiki meditation and breathing, and giving and receiving a hands on Reiki session, you will learn to sense, perceive and utilize its energy using specific hands on methods to:  Reduce stress and pain, speed healing, enhance intuition, improve relationships, help friends and family, stimulate creativity, assist with work and career, and manifest goals. It is valuable in addressing emergencies and acute conditions, as well as underlying emotional and spiritual crises, and is frequently taught to medical staff for use in hospitals.

As a retired PhD psychologist and Reiki Master Teacher for almost 25 years, I can attest to its value in working with mood and other medical imbalances, trauma and addiction. Its compassionate and joyful energy is calming, clarifying and grounding. Reiki benefits all living beings and situations — plants and animals love it (you may even get to meet Barnaby the Reiki Dog). And most of all, it’s a beautiful way to love yourself! - Gianna

Acadian Arts Watercolor Retreat - Painting Flower Portraits in Watercolor - Prospect Harbor

$595

with Mary Laury

Calendar Next available session starts Apr 11, 2025
1 additional session on Sep 12, 2025

Your instructor, Mary Laury, is an accomplished watercolorist and highly esteemedteacher. She encourages all her students to believe they can be successful. Painting isan exciting medium; it flows and moves and does beautiful things. If you have neverpainted in watercolors, we will start at the beginning. If you have painted before, you willpick up some new tips and tricks as well. We all learn together!

Paint flower portraits realistically. You will paint pictures of flowers in detail, but more painterly than a scientific illustration. We won’t count veins, but we will count petals! Painting flowers is a wonderful exercise in observation.

Learn brush stroke and value; white on white flowers; leaves, long and short; iris, narcissus, orchids, tulips, and other spring flowers.

We will paint on smooth paper; Strathmore Series 500, one hundred percent cotton paper, either plate or vellum. This paper can be bought at Artist and Craftsman in Portland in large sheets, which we will cut up.

Bring a #2 round brush and a #6 round brush, pencil, palette, tube watercolors in the 3 primary colors and perhaps a green. Paper towels and water container. And bring a plant or flower specimen with no more than 9 petals. This is a slow and careful process and 9 petals and some leaves is enough happiness for us all.

Escape to a Victorian Inn, the Harbor View House in Prospect Harbor on the coast of Maine, with an intimate group of artist, cooks and creatives! All meals are included inthe workshop fee plus special activities to extend your learning from the day’sworkshops, including a private house concert by Grammy balloted sing-songwriter, storyteller, and author Gordan Ward.
