Only 2 days left to register!
The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife's Hunter Education Course is more than a "gun safety" class. Topics covered: proper handling, rifle and shotgun, survival/first aid, hunter responsibility, map and compass, and landowner relations. Students are provided with a course handbook, outdoor survival information, additional handouts and homework assignments at the Friday (Sept. 13) evening session and return 8 days later on Saturday (Sept. 21) for lectures, demonstrations, field experiences and a final written exam. You must attend each day of the class in order to receive your certificate. Each course is taught by a trained, certified volunteer instructor according to statewide standards. Students should bring a bag lunch on Saturday.
If you take the online course (https://www.hunter-ed.com/maine/), you need only register for the Saturday date, bring your printed voucher along with your survival kit and drink/lunch. Please call our office at 422-4794 to let us know to expect you, and we will register you.
