Woodworking: Beginners

with George Deans

Class has begun

Please note: the start date is different from what was printed in out catalog.

Geared toward the total beginner and those who want to get the most out of the tools they have. A focus will be on selecting the basic tools for woodworking with an emphasis on the importance of getting to know them and how to get the most out of them. We will also cover safety and proper shop practices, and an introduction to both hand and power tools. Students will learn and practice basic joinery skills to create their own box with lid or a wall shelf and learn about basic finishing. Selection, use, care/maintenance and sharpening of hand tools will be included, so that the student can create and maintain their own basic hand tool set. While tools will be available at class, please feel free to bring any hand tools from home. All materials included. No class 11/8 or 11/22.
