This reading/writing-intensive course is designed to help students develop critical thinking and analytical skills in order to read and understand complex texts. Prepare for career or college by building skills that will allow you to get the job you want in your field or enroll in college classes. Explore the genre of non-fiction by reading autobiographies and biographies, essays, articles, diaries, letters, speeches, technical manuals, charts, graphs, and maps.

Proportional reasoning is a fundamental skill that can help with other areas of math, including fractions and algebra. Participants work on mastering ratios, unit rates, and proportions and applying them in the real world. This class is a combination of individual work, group work, and class instruction. Students will go at their own pace and will need to complete all activities to receive diploma credit. HiSET and other math enthusiasts are encouraged to enroll. Meeting with a student advisor required for enrollment.
