Students will explore the ceramic technique of handbuilding to create unique, sculptural, textured vessels. Starting with a ball of clay, participants will learn the basics of pinching and shaping, while incorporating a variety of textures such as carving, stamping, and rolling to enhance their designs. Emphasis will be placed experimenting with different patterns, textures, and surface treatments. By the end of the class, students will have crafted their own expressive, one-of-a-kind pinch pots (up to 3 or 5), gaining a deeper appreciation for the tactile process of pottery and a better understanding of how texture enhances the form and aesthetic of ceramic works.

Reiki is a Japanese Vibrational Energy Healing Method bringing physical, mental and emotional, and spiritual harmony by balancing Chi. Gendai Reiki Ho is a school of Reiki rarely taught outside of Japan. Through the Empowerment given by a Shihan (GRH Master Teacher), practicing Reiki meditation and breathing, and giving and receiving a hands on Reiki session, you will learn to sense, perceive and utilize its energy using specific hands on methods to:  Reduce stress and pain, speed healing, enhance intuition, improve relationships, help friends and family, stimulate creativity, assist with work and career, and manifest goals. It is valuable in addressing emergencies and acute conditions, as well as underlying emotional and spiritual crises, and is frequently taught to medical staff for use in hospitals.

As a retired PhD psychologist and Reiki Master Teacher for almost 25 years, I can attest to its value in working with mood and other medical imbalances, trauma and addiction. Learn the fundamentals of safe boating and earn the Maine state recognized certification that requires completion of a boating education course before operating most water craft for anyone born after 1999. Class covers safety equipment, trip planning, navigation rules and aids, state and federal regulations, anchoring, dealing with adverse conditions and emergencies, communications, trailering, knots and lines, and more! The information is useful for both ocean and freshwater boating. The course includes an examination for certification.

A materials/administration fee for the course is $10. Manuals are $35 if you want to buy one, payable at first class by cash or check ("Penobscot Bay Sail and Power Squadron").
